Instructions for accessing on board and entering the various destinations (updated on 15/07/2020)

According to the COVID-19 guidelines, in order to board Grimaldi Lines / Minoan Lines ferries, all passengers are required to fill in the health self-certification form downloadable below, as well as to follow the access procedures for each country indicated below:

Trips from/to Greece

For trips ITALY - GREECE - ITALY in the routes:

  • Ancona - Igoumenitsa
  • Ancona - Patras

  • Venice - Igoumenitsa

The Greek Government has established that from July 1st, 2020 in order to enter the Greek territory it is mandatory to fill in the PLF module (Passeger Locator Form). This electronic questionnaire must be completed at least 24 hours before entering the country. You can find the required data in the booking confirmation. In the field where the cabin or seat number is requested, enter the abbreviation TBA (as this data is not yet known).
Once the form has been filled in correctly, passengers will receive a confirmation e-mail containing a QR CODE.

Trips from/to Sardinia

For trips ITALY MAINLAND - SARDINIA - ITALY MAINLAND in the routes:

  • Civitavecchia - Olbia
  • Civitavecchia - Porto Torres
  • Livorno - Olbia

You can travel regularly by ferry from the mainland to Sardinia and vice versa.
All passengers travelling to Sardinia by ferry must fill in the online form of the Sardinia Region.
The registration receipt must be shown during boarding together with the ticket and valid identity documents. Passengers without the registration receipt will not be allowed to board the ferry.

Trips from/to Sicily

For trips ITALY MAINLAND - SICILY - ITALY MAINLAND in the routes:

  • Livorno - Palermo
  • Salerno - Palermo
  • Salerno - Catania

You can travel regularly by ferry from the mainland to Sicily and vice versa.
All passengers travelling to Sicily by ferry must fill in the online form of the Sicily Region
The registration receipt must be shown during boarding together with the ticket and valid identity documents. Passengers without the registration receipt will not be allowed to board the ferry.

Trips from/to Spain

For the routes ITALY - SPAIN:

  • Civitavecchia - Barcelona
  • Porto Torres - Barcelona
  • Savona - Barcelona

In cooperation with the competent authorities, Grimaldi Lines informs of the application of Ordinance INT/595/2020 of 2 July (https://boe.es/boe/dias/2020/07/03/pdfs/BOE-A-2020-7140.pdf), which extends the temporary limitation of non-essential travel from third countries to the European Union and associated Schengen countries, according to which any third-country national will be refused entry on grounds of public order or public health unless he or she belongs to one of the exceptional categories included therein:

1. habitually resident in the European Union, the associated Schengen States or Andorra, Monaco, El Vaticano (Holy See) or San Marino
2. holders of a long-term visa issued by a Member State or a Schengen associated State applying it.
3. cross-border workers.
4. health professionals, including researchers, or care workers for the elderly travelling for the purpose of work.
5. transport personnel, seamen and aircrew who are required to carry out air transport activities.
6. staff of diplomatic, consular, international, military and humanitarian organisations, in the performance of their duties.
7. students studying in the Member States or associated Schengen States and having the corresponding permit or visa.
8. highly qualified workers whose work is necessary and cannot be postponed or carried out remotely, including participants in high-level sporting events taking place in Spain. These circumstances must be documented and justified.
9. persons travelling for urgent family reasons duly substantiated.
10. persons who provide documentary evidence of force majeure or a situation of need or whose entry is permitted on humanitarian grounds.
11. seasonal workers in the agricultural sector.
12. residents of the countries listed below. Nationals of Algeria, China and Morocco are subject to the principle of reciprocity. The list below may be modified according to the decisions of the Minister of the Interior.

The 15 countries not integrated into the Ordinance are: Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay, China.
This Ordinance is valid until 31/07/2020.

In any case, given the changing regulatory situation, passengers are strongly recommended to always consult the regulations in force in order to verify that they duly comply with the legal and administrative requirements for entry into Spain and that they are not subject to entry restrictions. Non-compliance with the regulations is their sole responsibility, as the competent administrative authorities may refuse entry if they do not meet the required criteria of the Spanish Government.

For the routes SPAIN - ITALY:

  • Barcelona - Civitavecchia
  • Barcelona - Porto Torres
  • Barcelona - Savona

According to the Prime Minister's Decree of 11/06 and the Ordinance of the Minister of Health of 30/06, since July 1, entry into Italy is allowed:

1) of EU citizens (besides Italy, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the Czech Republic), States party to the Schengen Agreement (non-EU States party to the Schengen Agreement are: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland), the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Andorra, Monaco, the Republic of San Marino and the Vatican City State.
2) foreigners residing in an EU country
3) family members of EU citizens and foreigners residing in an EU country (family members are defined as: spouses, civil partners, de facto cohabiting partners, dependent children under the age of 21, dependent relatives in the ascending line);
4) foreigners residing in Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay. In this case, however, they may enter the country but are obliged to remain in isolation for 14 days.
5) from and to non-Schengen countries, trips may be made - in addition to work, health, absolute necessity, return to home, residence or residence - also for study purposes after completing the Self-Certification form Self-Certification form.

Trips from/to Tunisia

For the routes ITALY - TUNISIA

he Tunisian government has classified foreign countries into 3 categories, to which different restrictive measures will be applied (green category: low diffusion; orange category: medium diffusion; red category: countries at risk).
The lists will be periodically updated according to the evolution of contagion in the individual countries and can be consulted at the link: http://www.santetunisie.rns.tn .
In the assessment will be considered the country of residence of the passenger, who must in any case fill out a form on his health status (also online http://coronavirus.rns.tn/fiche-sanitaire2020/fiche-sanitaire/fiche.php) before starting the trip (HEALTH CARD MODEL).
Green category: passengers from countries included in the green category are not subject to special restrictive measures. ITALY is included in the green category.
Orange category: passengers coming from countries included in the orange category must present at check-in a laboratory certificate attesting the negative result of COVID-19 tests (RT - PCR test) carried out in the 72 hours prior to the trip and not exceeding 120 hours from the time of issue to the time of entry into Tunisia.

The following measures apply on arrival in Tunisia from orange category countries:

For Tunisians residing abroad and for foreigners residing in Tunisia (domiciled in Tunisia):
1) Obligation to submit a declaration of self-isolation for 14 days and to carry out a second test if Covid19 symptoms occur;
2) After the sixth day of stay at home at the request and at the expense of the person concerned possibility to do tests.

For tourists and Tunisians staying in hotels:
1) Transfer of tourist groups by escorted bus to hotels declared in compliance with the Health Protocol of Tourism, monitored stay in the hotel with possibility of movement outside the hotel only for organized visits (museums, monuments, archaeological sites) in compliance with the health protocol of each site;
2) possibility to carry out Covid tests (RT -PCR) at one's own expense after the sixth day of stay in Tunisia to leave the monitored stay or at the request of the country of residence.

In view of the closure of the borders between Tunisia and Algeria and Libya, passengers of Algerian and Libyan nationality cannot be taken on board. We suggest to consult the Tunisian embassy/consulate for more details.

As the provisions are constantly updated, we ask all passengers going to Tunisia to take the information from the competent authorities, such as embassies and consulates, independently.

 

For the routes TUNISIA - ITALY, nelle tratte:

  • Tunis - Civitavecchia
  • Tunis - Salerno
  • Tunis - Palermo

According to the Prime Ministerial Decree of 14 July 2020, until 31 July 2020, travel from/to countries and territories other than the Schengen countries and territories is allowed only for proven work, study, absolute urgency or health reasons. In any case, it is permitted to return to one's home or residence.

Whoever returns to Italy from Tunisia still has to fill in a specific SELF-CERTIFICATION ON THE REASONS FOR THE TRIP, has to submit to a trust isolation for 14 days and can NOT use public means of transport other than the one used to enter Italy. It is allowed to rent cars and use taxis or taxi or rent with driver.

The self-certification must be presented at boarding in duplicate.

Trips from/to Morocco

For routes FROM/TO MOROCCO:

  • Savona - Tangier
  • Barcelona - Tangier

Ferry trips to/from Morocco are temporarily suspended until 15 September 2020.

Trips from/to Malta

For the trips ITALY - MALTA - ITALY, in the routes:

  • Catania - Malta
  • Salerno - Malta

According to Article 27(c) of the LN 244 of 2020 of the Maltese Government, as of 01/07/2020, only passengers who have stayed in one of the countries listed below during the 14 days prior to arrival are allowed to travel to/from Malta:

Austria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Italy, France, with the exception of Ile-de-France, Slovakia, Switzerland, Greece, Croatia, Spain, with the exception of Madrid, Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, Castile-Leon, Poland.

To enter Malta territory, passengers are required to fill in the form below:
1) self-certification form 
2) travel information form

Trips on the Greek domestic lines

In order to board Minoan Lines ferries on Greek domestic routes, please print and fill in the module available for download at this link.  The form must be submitted to the vessel's Chief Purser along with the ticket, when boarding, prior to the vessel's departure. The procedure is valid for the routes Piraeus - Heraklion, Piraeus - Chania, Piraeus - Milos, Heraklion - Santorini - Mykonos - Paros and vice versa.

External data processors
The Controller uses shipping agencies (appointed as Processors) and other agencies (appointed as Sub-processors) for the purposes of processing specified hereunder.
Furthermore all external service providers are appointed as Processors. Subject of processing
Processing operations may relate to:
• personal details (first name, surname, address, date and place of birth);
• contact details (e-mail and telephone number);
• data concerning membership of professional categories or registration with loyalty or membership schemes signed with third-party companies.
Some of the sensitive data referred to in Art. 9 of Regulation (EU) 679/2016 may also be processed, namely:
• data concerning particular needs due to the state of health.

It is optional to provide this data. The acquisition and processing of said data not only allows the company to satisfy passengers’ needs as far as possible, but also to achieve the purpose set forth by the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport Circular no. 104/2014, namely "collect information and data on passengers [...] to facilitate search and rescue operations and to optimise the resources needed to deal with an SAR event".

Purposes of processing of the data
(ART. 24, LETTERS A, B, C, OF THE DATA PROTECTION CODE AND ART. 6, LETTERS B, E, OF THE GDPR)
Your data will be processed for the purposes specified each time in a specific policy provided before you access each service and in relation to which you will be asked to give your consent to processing (as the legal basis for processing). The purposes pursued through registration with the services accessible on the website are listed below.
In particular, the data will be processed for purposes associated with the mutual obligations under a maritime transport contract:
1. management of requests for an estimate;
2. conclusion, management and execution of operations associated with the maritime transport agreement;
3. sending of information on the journey purchased (such as any delays, etc.);
4. supply of the products and services purchased on board ship;
5. extraction of statistical information, in anonymous form;
6. transmission of data to shipping agencies, port authorities, judicial authorities and law enforcement agencies;
7. sending of claims in relation to the maritime transport.
Granting of consent to processing of your personal data will be optional or compulsory, depending on the purposes being pursued for each service. However, we must hereby inform you that, if consent is compulsory, Minoan Agencies will be unable to supply the service or will supply it only in part if you refuse to give it.

Data processing methods
(ART.4 DATA PROTECTION CODE AND ART.5 GDPR)
The data will be processed, also using automated means, in compliance with the methods indicated in the GDPR, which provides, among other things, for the data to be:
• processed according to principles of lawfulness, fairness and transparency;
• collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes ("purpose limitation");
• adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which it is processed (‘data minimisation’);
• accurate and up to date ("accuracy");
• kept for a period no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the personal data is processed (‘storage limitation’);
• processed in a manner that ensures appropriate security of the personal data, including protection against unauthorised or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage (‘integrity and confidentiality’).
The personal data will be stored for ten years from the date of the end of the journey for purposes of keeping of accounting records and any needs originating from disputes with passengers.
The Sub-Processor will process the personal data for as long as is necessary to achieve the aforesaid purposes and, in any case, for no longer than thirty-six months after the collection of consent to processing, consent that may be withdrawn at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

Legal basis
The legal basis for the processing listed here above ("Purposes of processing of the data" par. 2, points 1-5) is the fulfilment of contractual obligations or the steps necessary prior to entering into a contract or by law, in order to manage the maritime transport contract.
For point 7 of paragraph 2 "Purposes of processing of the data", the legal basis for processing is fulfilment of the Sub-Processor’s legal obligations and the public interest in protection of safety in ports.

Transfer and/or disclosure of the data
The data may be communicated both to other companies in the group to which Minoan Agencies belongs and also to entities in third countries, including outside the European Union, with the adoption of appropriate procedures and with respect to the aforementioned purposes. Furthermore, it may be necessary for Minoan Agencies to disclose the personal data, on the basis of laws, legal proceedings, disputes and/or requests made by public or government authorities inside or outside the State of residence of the data subject, purposes of national security and/or other issues of public importance. When legally possible, Minoan Agencies will inform the data subject before disclosing the data. Minoan Agencies may also disclose the data if it establishes in good faith that said disclosure is reasonably necessary to enforce and protect its own rights and activate the available remedies.

Rights of the data subject

We also inform you that, for each service for which you register, you may exercise the following rights at any moment:

Nature of granting the data and consequences of failure to provide data
The data must be provided to allow precise fulfilment of the company’s contractual obligations and those prior to entering into a contract and your failure to provide will make it impossible to enter into the maritime transport contract and to fulfil the legal obligations and those of the public interest in protection of safety in ports.
