Grimaldi Lines and Minoan Lines ferries are fully equipped to accommodate disabled persons or persons with reduced mobility, hereinafter referred to as RMP, on board and to offer them maximum comfort during boarding/disembarking from the ship and during the navigation.
The staff at the ticket desk and on board will be at the complete disposal of the RMP to assist them during check-in, boarding and disembarkation.

Booking procedure

The reservation of an RMP can be made as follows:

Booking of special needs cabins

The special RMP cabins are equipped with more space to allow wheelchair access and manoeuvring. The configuration of the cabins and the number of passengers that can be accommodated varies from ship to ship. See the fleet for more information.

Timing

It is the RMP's duty to report in writing to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or by fax to 071 201933, within 48 hours before departure and in any case at the same time as purchasing the ticket, its specific needs for accommodation, special services or the need to bring medical equipment on board. Check-in

The presentation at Grimaldi Lines Minoan Lines check-in must be made in advance of the declared presentation time, and in any case according to the procedures agreed with the Company.

Accompanying vehicle

In case of RMP with accompanying vehicle, the check-in desk staff will provide the passenger with a specific adhesive coupon to be displayed on the windscreen.
During boarding the RMP vehicle will be boarded as a priority and will be parked in specific areas of the ship's garage.

Underage passengers on board

Below are the procedures for access on board by underage passengers on Grimaldi Lines and Minoan Lines ferries.

All underage passengers must travel with a valid identity document according to the European Community Regulation n. 2252/2004. In no case a simple self-certification (according to DPR 445/2000) will be considered valid for boarding purposes.

Underage passengers under 14 years old

Minor passengers under 14 years of age must travel accompanied by at least one adult. If the minor passenger is accompanied by an adult other than his/her parents, it will be necessary to hand over to the ship's purser or the ship's captain a letter of trust with which the parents/legal guardians declare to entrust their child to a third person. The letter will have to be accompanied by a copy of the valid identity documents of both parents, and in the case of non-EU minors also the residence permit in which the child is also present. The designated accompanying person will be responsible for the child in accordance with the law.

Furthermore, in the case of passengers under 14 years of age with Italian nationality who are not accompanied by at least one parent on international routes, the accompanying declaration must be filed with the competent police headquarters. Underage passengers over 14 years old

Minor passengers over the age of 14 years may travel unaccompanied, but they will have to hand over a letter of release to the Chief Purser or to the Captain in which the parents/legal guardians declare that they assume full responsibility for any personal injury or damage caused to third parties.

In any case the Captain and the members of the crew will not take the minor passenger into custody and consequently the responsibility for what has been done by the minor on board the ship.

It is understood that the passenger will have to travel with all the necessary documentation to enter the country of destination. In case of denial of disembarkation due to lack of required documentation, the Company does not assume any responsibility.

Pregnant women on board

Pregnant women can travel on Grimaldi Lines and Minoan Lines ferries in complete comfort and relaxation. On board the ships future mothers will be able to walk on the internal and external decks, go shopping, read a book, relax and look at the sea while sailing. For the longest crossings we recommend a trip in the cabin.

Required documents

Women over the 6th month of pregnancy may only board if they are in possession of a medical certificate attesting to their physical fitness and consenting to travel. The certificate in question must be issued no earlier than 7 days from the date of departure.

In the event of a complicated pregnancy, a medical certificate is required for the pregnant passenger, regardless of the month of pregnancy.
Passengers who are expected to give birth in the 7 days following the date of departure, or who have given birth in the 7 days before the date of departure, are in no case allowed to embark.

In any case, the Captain has the full right to refuse a pregnant passenger who, in his unquestionable judgement, is in such a condition as to be unable to travel. Should this situation occur, the Company will only be obliged to reimburse the cost of the ticket.

Luggage

Included in the Grimaldi Lines and Minoan Lines ticket fare is the carriage on board of one piece of hand luggage of maximum size 56x45x25 cm containing only personal belongings. The carriage on board of luggage containing goods for sale is not permitted.

The rule is valid for all passengers with cabin, seat and deck accommodation.

During navigation the garages remain closed and access to them is prohibited, therefore passengers with cars must bring everything necessary for the crossing.

All items and furnishings may not be carried on board but must be registered and stored - for a fee - in the ship's garage.

It is absolutely forbidden to transport dangerous and harmful goods such as weapons, explosives, drugs, etc..

Passengers are fully responsible for their baggage and the Company is in no case liable for any theft, damage or loss of baggage and its contents.

Pets on Board

Travelling by ferry with your pet is easy and safe, provided that a few essential rules are respected. Dogs, cats and other companion animals are welcome on board, with dedicated accommodation options designed to ensure comfort for both pets and their owners.

Which Pets Can Travel

All companion animals listed under EU Regulation 576/2013 are allowed on board. Dogs and cats have dedicated accommodation areas, while other animals such as rabbits, birds or reptiles must travel in their own carriers or cages provided by the passenger.

It is mandatory to include your pet in the booking at the time of reservation, whether made online, through a call center or via a travel agency.

Accessible Areas and Onboard Rules

Pets are not allowed inside cabins unless the dedicated service is purchased. However, they may stay on the external decks together with their owners, always wearing a leash and muzzle. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in denied boarding.

Access to common areas, restaurants and passenger lounges may be granted at the discretion of the onboard staff, provided that the animal is kept inside a suitable, well-ventilated and secure carrier. Guide dogs are not subject to these restrictions.

In reclining seat lounges, dogs and cats are permitted only if kept inside an appropriate carrier that allows the animal to stand, turn around and lie down comfortably.

Pet in Cabin Service

Passengers who wish to stay in a cabin with their pet can request the pet in cabin service, available for an additional fee and subject to limited availability. This service allows the pet to remain in the selected cabin throughout the journey, ensuring proper hygiene and comfort thanks to dedicated cleaning procedures and specific equipment.

To access the cabin, a valid anti-parasite treatment certificate must be presented at boarding (included in the health booklet or EU pet passport). Without this certification, dogs may only travel in onboard kennels.

Each cabin can accommodate up to three pets. Guests who purchase the service may request a welcome bag at reception (while supplies last), containing useful items to make the crossing more comfortable for their four-legged companion.

Guide and Assistance Dogs

Visually impaired passengers may travel with their guide dog free of charge, subject to prior written notification to the company. Assistance dogs for passengers with reduced mobility may also stay in the cabin without paying the pet in cabin supplement, provided they are declared at boarding.

Restrictions for Tunisia Routes

On routes to Tunisia, the boarding of dogs belonging to the following breeds is strictly prohibited, in accordance with Tunisian authorities: Pit Bull, Rottweiler, Tosa, Mastiff and Boerboel. If this regulation is not respected, the animal will not be allowed to board.
